April 21 for the St.George Queensland Reds' clash against the Chiefs in Queensland Rugby's 1000th capped match.
The 1000th capped match celebrated a significant milestone in the Red's 136-year history.
Queensland’s first Rugby match came against New South Wales back in 1882. Those pioneers, including our first captain Arthur Hickson, couldn’t possibly have imagined their decision to form a Rugby Union in this state would lay the central foundation for our code’s development.
The jerseys were worn with pride during the first Reds game, as their predecessors did during their clash with the Chiefs. The occasion was used as a nostalgic moment to create memories that future generations of Queensland supporters will be talking about in the decades to come.
