On offer the 1925 Mayblooms Guernsey
and an original 1945 Team photo, the last year with the ‘V’
This is your chance to get a reproduction 1925 Guernsey made especially for the Hawks Museum. When Hawthorn joined the VFL the Club introduced a new guernsey considered somewhat unusual with a gold ‘V’ on the front and the back of the Guernsey with the Club monogram on the left breast. The numbers were made from white felt sewn over the “V”.
The repro guernsey is size 20, made from pure wool in the classic Brown & Gold colours with the buttons and collar in the style of the period. The guernsey would be ideal to wear to the footy or to be framed making a very welcome edition to any Hawthorn collection.
Accompanying the guernsey is an rare original 1949 team photo, the last year that the Mayblooms styled guernsey was worn prior to the vertical stripes being adopted in 1950. The photo includes Alec Albiston captain & coach, Ted Fletcher, Peter O’Donohue, Butch Prior, Kevin Curran and Jim Robson.
